Down today: 1.4 lbs, and one Kirby vacuum

September 12th, 2005

Today was a day of negotiation and unloading… I had my weigh in today, and lost another 1.4 lbs, which brings my grand total to 60.6 lbs GONE FOREVER! Well, hopefully forever. I have been struggling this last month to get to my 60 lb goal, and finally, I did it! However, I have felt really fat lately. I don’t see as much of a difference as I did before. Sure, I am down 5 pant sizes, but I am still FAT! I am less that 3 lbs from my half way goal, but I just don’t LOOK like I have lost that much! I still keep getting the “What did you do differently with your hair” comment, and honestly, it’s getting old. I realized I was a tub, so if people ask me if I have lost weight, it is not going to hurt my feelings! Geez!

Anyways, after unloading a bit of weight today, I also unloaded the Kirby vac. The salesman showed up here about 9pm tonight, and I really thought he was going to flake, but he didn’t. He was however, a total jerk when he came to get it. He was bragging about the fact he sold 5 vacs today in Long Beach, and I replied with “Well, then you shouldn’t be acting like such a jerk just because someone decided to cancel their contract.” I assured him if I was in a position to buy the vac again, he would be the first person I would call. I told him if he didn’t drop the attitude, he would lose the deal. By the end of the deal, he had actually knocked the price of the vacuum down by 50%, which leads me more to believe that Josh and I were totally hosed from the get go. Even more of a reason to return the damn thing!

Our van decided to give us trouble again, too. I have a client who is interested in buying it, and he even showed up to my office with a check today, but no can do right now. I think there is a radiator leak somewhere, and I as an honest person, cannot sell someone a car when I don’t know what condition it is currently in. Just makes me realize I made a good decision about giving up the Kirby…the salesman proceeded to clean it up right in my living room with the intent of reselling it to some poor sucker tomorrow. I’m just glad that sucker isn’t me!

    Kate,

Do not give up! You look great! Maybe it is time to take a little break and try to keep the weight off. I lost 25 and haven’t lost anymore but have managed to keep that much off. I do need to get motivated again! Your website certianly helps with that. I need to lose 50 to 60 pounds more. Also, I would complain to weight watchers about your leader. She should not be like that!! Keep at it you are doing great. Buy a new outfit that fits you now! You need to reward yourself and not with a Kirby VAC!!!

Don’t give up on the weight loss. You are doing magnificently! Just remember this, at 500 lbs losing 10% is 50 lbs. At 250 lbs, losing 10% means 25 lbs. At 125 lbs, 10% is only 12.5 lbs. My point is, as you lose more weight the process seems to slow down because the total lbs lost seems to decrease. However, take a look at the percentage of weight loss. You may be surprised that your weight loss rate is the same or may have even increased! It’s just the number of lbs lost is smaller. This is why the last 10 lbs is always the hardest and the most discouraging. But don’t let the numbers fool you. Keep it up!

Who said anything about giving up? I am going to keep on trucking! I am definitely not going to let a bitchy leader keep me down…In fact, I have a wonderful leader now, and I wouldn’t trade her for the world!
